Cape Verde's celebrated World Cup goalkeeper, Vozinha, has reached an agreement to join the prominent Chilean club Colo Colo, according to an announcement made by the club's president, Anibal Mosa. The 40-year-old stopper, who gained global recognition for his standout performances, including a pivotal goalless draw against Spain, is expected to travel to Chile for a medical examination.

Vozinha's exceptional saves throughout the World Cup, particularly against formidable opponents like defending champions Argentina, made him one of the tournament's most talked-about players. His impressive run helped Cape Verde qualify for the knockout stage, where he kept three clean sheets. The goalkeeper, who was previously with Portuguese second-tier side Chaves, was recognized by FIFA fans as part of the World Cup dream team.

"Vozinha will be a Colo Colo player. In the coming days, he will travel to Chile, undergo the usual medical examinations and then be presented here at the Estadio Monumental," Mosa stated. He further commented that Vozinha's World Cup achievements justified the move, while also noting the potential marketing benefits for the Santiago-based club.

Colo Colo, a historically successful club in Chile and the nation's sole Copa Libertadores winner, has already begun teasing the signing on social media. An image shared by the club appeared to feature the veteran goalkeeper's distinctive curly hair, accompanied by welcoming messages in multiple languages.

The goalkeeper, whose full name is Josimar Jose Evora Dias, has experienced a significant surge in his public profile. His Instagram following has dramatically increased, reportedly from 50,000 to nearly 30 million, partly due to attention from Brazilian influencer Casimiro. This newfound fame also brought attention to a personal struggle: his mother, Ana Candida Evora, initially faced difficulties obtaining a visa to attend the World Cup in the US due to the cost of a bond payment.

Following an appeal, Vozinha's mother was eventually granted a visa, with her travel expenses waived, after advocacy from US House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries. This situation highlighted the emotional journey of the veteran player and his family during the tournament.

Colo Colo currently leads Chile's Liga de Primera, reinforcing their status as a major force in South American football. The acquisition of Vozinha, a player who has captured international attention with his age-defying performances, is seen as a significant move for the club.

The signing raises expectations for Colo Colo's upcoming season and further cements Vozinha's legacy as a player who achieved significant recognition late in his career, demonstrating that age is not a barrier to high-level performance and global acclaim.
