President Donald Trump reportedly utilized a clandestine operation involving a catering truck and a military aircraft to obscure his flight path from Turkey to the United Kingdom last month, according to The Washington Post. This elaborate maneuver was reportedly undertaken amid heightened threats against the President from Iran.

The secret mission, as detailed by the Post, was executed without the knowledge of the traveling press corps and even some White House officials who were aboard what was presented as a decoy flight. The White House had publicly stated that President Trump was traveling on the standard Air Force One jet.

According to the report, President Trump was seen boarding the aircraft on July 8. However, following his boarding, he was allegedly transferred to a catering cart, a vehicle typically used for transporting food and beverages onto planes. At the time, President Trump had publicly announced he would not be flying on the Qatar-gifted Air Force One jet, stating he was sending it to a base in the UK for service members to tour.

ABC News reported at the time that Trump had been advised against taking that particular plane due to security concerns amidst escalating tensions with Iran. On the flight that was believed to be carrying the President, reporters on board were instructed by the Secret Service to keep the windows closed for the entire duration of the journey, citing it as a mandate.

The Washington Post further reported that the transponder on the Air Force One jet, despite the President not being aboard according to their account, was turned off. This action would have made the aircraft less visible on radar systems.

President Trump was later seen in the UK disembarking the older aircraft to transfer to the Qatar-gifted jet. The exact method of his return to the newer plane remains unclear.

Upon rejoining reporters en route back to the U.S. aboard the new Air Force One, President Trump was asked if there were any security concerns surrounding the plane swap. He responded with a simple "no, no." When questioned about the need to close window blinds, he stated, "Well, yeah, because you’re probably on a dangerous flight because of the sleaze bags that we have to deal with," seemingly contradicting his earlier assertion of no security concerns.

In a statement to ABC News regarding the Post's reporting, the White House commented, "As the President has said recently, there are many enemies of America who have their sights on him, and we use every tool at our disposal to address those threats."
