Three people were killed and four others were injured after gunfire erupted at the Bite of Seattle food festival held at the Seattle Center on Sunday. Seattle Police Department officials were dispatched to the scene around 6 p.m. and discovered two individuals engaged in a shooting.

Authorities responded rapidly to the incident, with officers arriving within moments and providing immediate medical assistance to the wounded until emergency medical services arrived. Simultaneously, a manhunt was initiated for the individuals responsible for the violence.

Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson confirmed that one suspect has been apprehended, but an additional person believed to be involved in the shooting is still at large, according to police statements. Two firearms were recovered by law enforcement at the scene.

The deceased victims have been identified as a 19-year-old man, a 44-year-old man, and a 56-year-old woman. The injured victims include a boy, a 23-year-old man, and a 39-year-old woman, all of whom are reported to be in stable condition. A fourth injured individual, a 40-year-old woman, sustained minor injuries and declined hospital transport.

Mayor Wilson characterized the event as "horrific violence" and expressed that impacted families are enduring an unimaginably difficult time. She added that the community is struggling to comprehend how an event intended for "culture, connection, and joy" devolved into such an act of violence, emphasizing that no one should have to consider the risk of being shot when attending public gatherings.

Officials stated that there were no surveillance cameras in the immediate vicinity of the shooting. Police are urging the public to come forward with any information that could assist in their investigation.

The Bite of Seattle is an annual festival featuring numerous food vendors and live music performances, drawing large crowds to the Seattle Center.

This incident is one of several recent violent events, including a police shooting in Wisconsin, a house fire in which multiple people were found dead with gunshot wounds, and a shooting in Chicago that wounded six people.
