Overnight Russian attacks on Ukraine have resulted in civilian casualties, including two deaths in Kharkiv and multiple injuries in Pavlohrad, as Moscow continues its assault on Ukrainian energy infrastructure. The attacks underscore the ongoing intensity of the conflict, with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemning the violence and its impact on global food security.

In Kharkiv, a strike on an apartment building in the Saltivskyi district killed a 50-year-old man and a 66-year-old man, with at least 21 others wounded. Photos shared by Kharkiv Governor Oleh Syniehubov depicted significant damage to the residential structure. Separately, in the southern Kherson region, a 61-year-old woman was killed by Russian artillery fire in the Berislavsky district.

President Zelenskyy described an attack near a shopping mall in Pavlohrad, Dnipropetrovsk region, as "absolutely wicked," reporting that nine people were injured, including four children. The Ukrainian leader also indicated that attacks had occurred across numerous other regions, including Zhytomyr, Mykolaiv, Kyiv, Kherson, Sumy, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Zaporizhia, and Donetsk.

Meanwhile, Russian forces have intensified their attacks on the southwestern region of Odesa, a critical hub for Ukrainian exports. Ukraine's air force reported a barrage of ballistic, antiship, and anti-radar missiles, alongside over 200 Shahed drones targeting the area. These strikes hit 22 locations, causing damage to residential buildings and the port itself, and injuring at least eight people.

President Zelenskyy linked the attacks on Odesa's port directly to Russia's strategy against global food security, emphasizing the port's vital role in the worldwide grain supply. He stated that repair work was underway to restore the damaged energy sector. Earlier in July, attacks on the port reportedly killed 28 people.

Russia's state news agency TASS reported that Ukrainian drone attacks had claimed the lives of three civilians in Belgorod, Russia, overnight. TASS also reported Russian strikes on fuel, lubricant, and military equipment depots in Odesa's port.

The recurrent attacks on civilian infrastructure and vital export facilities highlight the escalating nature of the conflict and its far-reaching consequences, particularly concerning international food supplies. Ukrainian officials continue to call for international support to bolster air defenses and mitigate further civilian harm.
