A body believed to be that of missing personal trainer Elena Katherine Moore has been discovered during an extensive search in South Carolina. Moore, 39, was last seen leaving a Planet Fitness in Lexington on June 11 and was reported missing the following day.

Authorities launched a search after Moore failed to make contact with anyone for nearly a week. Her disappearance raised concerns as she was a regular at the gym and her absence was out of character.

On Wednesday, law enforcement and fire personnel focused their search on an area where a tip indicated Moore might have been seen on the day she disappeared. Shortly before 3 p.m., a body was located that matched the clothing description of the missing trainer, according to Lexington Police Department Chief Terrence Green.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division has been requested to investigate the death, Chief Green stated. The coroner's office is expected to provide official identification of the body.

Moore worked as a personal trainer at Wolf's Fitness Center in Lexington. Police confirmed she signed in at the Planet Fitness located at 560 Whiteford Way on the evening of June 11 at 6:40 p.m. No contact or activity was reported after this time.

Surveillance footage captured Moore walking away from the Planet Fitness. Later, she was seen on footage in the parking lot of a nearby Publix supermarket at 9:17 p.m. the same evening. She was wearing an olive-green zip-up hoodie and black athletic pants, consistent with the clothing reported when she left the gym. The footage showed her heading in the direction of Old Cherokee Road.

The recent search was prompted by a tip received on Wednesday, which placed Moore in the vicinity of North Lake Drive and Old Cherokee Road. This information directed law enforcement to the area where the body was ultimately found.

Police are awaiting official confirmation from the coroner regarding the identity of the deceased. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Moore's disappearance and death is ongoing.
